Winter Everland.

Korea doesn't have a Disneyland (shame!), but we do have Everland! It's basically a Disneyland-wannabe amusement park, with a safari and rollercoasters and all those fun things.

My co-teacher gave me two free passes to go during the Christmas season, and so the husband and I went off to explore the park... in sub-zero temperatures! It was really cold, but really fun at the same time! Do you like my reindeer antlers?

Lights On.

I've been living in my pajamas lately. I even went to the convenience store wearing my ratty Victoria's Secret pajama pants. Y'know the kind - the ones that have 'PINK' emblazoned across the ass-part. I'm just too tired to put on normal-people clothing. Not that I've been doing anything productive... but I'm still tired.

I took the above photo at a hotel in Seoul. It's the chandelier. Pretty neat, yep?

I'm really loving the military/utilitarian styling for the new stuff at Gap. This dress is especially catching my eye.

Shiny Stars.

I've been purposely avoiding the black-and-white ensembles for a bit (still a little too funereal for me...), but seeing as most of my clothing falls into that category, there's only so long I could last without being drawn back into it.

I originally bought the star-charm necklace for my cousin as a Christmas gift, only to discover that another one of our cousins had already given it to her. A sparkly doodad is a sparkly doodad, so I kept it for myself. It was featured on a K-drama... which is why my cousin wanted it in the first place. I don't really give a crap whether some Korean starlet wore it around her neck or not. I'm more concerned with the weird creases forming in/above my eyelids. What the heck is that all about?

My actual name, which is Persian in origin, also translates to "star". So! There you have it.

Blouse, Gap. Blazer, Ann Taylor. Necklace, Clue.

Family Dinner.

I'm not very fond of functions involving my entire extended family. My family can be very awkward and weird and there's also that one cousin I absolutely do not like being around. So it's a very good thing that I like the rest of my cousins (for the most part), and that one can self-medicate with wine. Many, many, many glasses of wine.

These pictures are from a fairly uneventful dinner two days before Christmas. There seems to have been an unspoken agreement among the cousins to wear black-and-white... except for one extremely sore thumb... HA! Anyway, the pink arrow is pointing at me. And the extremely handsome dude who looks like he may or may not be wearing a mask is my husband!

I'll try and be better about posting on this blog... heh.

Capture the Flag.

Getting prepped for Capture the Flag.
This is just the second layer (out of four)!

Playing Capture the Flag outside in the snow with a dozen teenaged boys is just plain crazy and awesome. I cobbled together makeshift flags for my winter camp kids to use in our game this afternoon. Amazing what a few plastic bags, disposable chopsticks and duct tape can do! I ended up face-first in a gigantic pile of snow about five times over the course of an hour-long melee. It's definitely a good thing that I'm a tomboy (and that I am fairly easy-going), because I imagine most girls would have cried after having fistfuls of snow thrown directly at their faces!

It's been ridiculously cold lately, making it compulsory to wear at least three layers of clothing when venturing outside. And I don't give a flying fart what people say about being stylish at all times - it's friggin' impossible when the temperature drops below zero and all of the sidewalks are iced over. You can be an idiot, or you can keep all of your fingers and toes for later use.

Into the New Year.

Here we are, four days into the New Year! Well, in my time zone, anyway.

I've been entertaining another guest (a friend from college), and I'm also teaching the English winter camp at my school. English camp apparently involves having massive snow fights with my entire class in a 12-to-1 battle. Do you know how it feels to be tackled and then have a shovelful of snow dumped on your face? Because I do now.

My resolutions for the year:

1 - Enroll in hot yoga classes.
2 - Book tickets for Japan.
3 - Find the perfect LBD.
4 - Wear more hot pink, starting with this headband.

An Epik High Christmas.

We're going to go back a wee bit into 2009 for this post.

Spending Christmas Eve 2009 with some of my favorite people (husband and little brother) AND one of my favorite Korean hip-hop groups was FUCKING AMAZING! And 'tis necessary to paste sparkly little bows all over my husband's handsome mug, as I mentioned before.

Here's a little bit more about Epik High (they're on Wikipedia?!), if you were curious.

And if it matters, I'm wearing a coat from UO, jeans from Levi's (where else?), Adidas sneakers and a bag from Modcloth. I was wearing a shirt underneath the coat as well, though I'm sure it would have been funny to flash people at the concert.

Coat, Benetton. Dress, Banana Republic. Scarf, from China. Hat, from Korea.

I squashed myself into a dark purple satin minidress that I bought LAST year, and haven't been able to wear till now. Whew. And then my husband, younger brother and I rang in 2010 with an absolutely amazing late dinner at N Grill atop the N Seoul Tower (formerly, and more commonly, known as Namsan Tower), while watching the fireworks in the distance. It was a fantastic way to start the New Year! We can all talk about resolutions some other time.

Husband had to be disguised, as he doesn't want his face published on the blog. Ha!

Hope you all had a faaaaabulous holiday season!
